What we collect

When you use ResumeMode, we collect only what we need to provide the service:

Account info: Your email address and name when you sign up.
Resumes: The resume files you upload for tailoring.
Job URLs and descriptions: The job postings you paste or link to.
Usage data: How many tailored resumes you generate, feature usage, and basic analytics (page views, device type).
Payment info: Handled entirely by Polar.sh. We never see or store your card number.

How we use your data

Resume tailoring: Your resume and job description are sent to OpenAI for AI processing. This is the core of the service.
Account management: Your email is used for login, password resets, and occasional product updates (you can opt out anytime).
Improving the product: Aggregate, anonymized usage patterns help us understand which features matter most.

Third-party services

We rely on a small number of trusted providers:

OpenAI: Processes your resume and job description to generate tailored output. Data sent to OpenAI is subject to their privacy policy. We use the API with data retention disabled.
Supabase: Hosts our database and authentication. Your data is stored in Supabase-managed PostgreSQL with row-level security.
Vercel: Hosts the application. Standard server logs may include IP addresses and request metadata.
Polar.sh: Processes payments and manages subscriptions. We do not store payment card details.

Data retention and deletion

Your resumes and tailored outputs are stored as long as your account is active. You can delete individual resumes from your dashboard at any time. If you delete your account, we remove all your data within 30 days, including resumes, tailored outputs, and account information.

To request full account deletion, email support@resumemode.com or use the delete option in your account settings.

Your rights (GDPR and CCPA)

Regardless of where you live, you can:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Download your resumes and data.
Delete your account and all associated data.
Opt out of marketing emails.
Correct inaccurate data.

For EU residents: our legal basis for processing is contract performance (we need your data to tailor your resume) and legitimate interest (analytics to improve the service). For California residents: we do not sell your personal information.

Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication (keeping you logged in). We use basic analytics to understand traffic patterns. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or trackers.

Security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We use row-level security in our database so users can only access their own data. Authentication is handled through Supabase with secure session management.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or through the app. Minor wording updates may happen without notice, but the substance of how we handle your data will not change without clear communication.
